DC 37 Education Department
Saturday fun classes available at Union Headquarters
The DC 37 Education Department is offering a series of classes on Saturdays, beginning April 14, 2018. Register at DC 37, 125 Barclay Street, Manhattan, and 2nd floor (near Room 202) on Saturday, March 17, 2018 10am to 2pm & Friday March 23, 2018 12:00 noon to 2pm and 5 pm to 7pm. Also, March 24, 2018 10am to 2pm.
Only money orders made payable to District Council 37 can be accepted. No cash or personal checks, please. Class fees do not include equipment or supplies. Class size is limited to 18.
Classes are available to members of DC37, their spouses, dependent children and retirees. To register, please bring your city ID, union card or a recent paystub. If you have any questions, call 212-815-1700.
- Guitar – $65 (10 weeks)
Guitar classes are for ages 8 to adult. Learn basic techniques and fundamentals of melody, harmony and rhythm. Classes meet as follows: beginner, ages 8 to 15, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; beginners, ages 16 to adult, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.; intermediate, 12 to 1 p.m.
- Photography – $65 (10 weeks)
Learn the technology of digital photography and 35 mm camera technique, scanning and retouching your photos, emailing your images and much more. Class does not include darkroom instruction. Students must provide equipment and supplies. The class is held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Open to ages 18 to adult.
- Crochet – $65 (10 weeks)
Learn the basic skills needed to crochet on your own including choosing supplies and forming basic stitches. Learn techniques for changing colors, finishing and troubleshooting. Experienced participants can practice broomstick lace, interlocking crochet and Tunisian crochet. All students will practice reading patterns and work on projects of their own choosing. Participants are required to purchase supplies. Open to ages 16 and up. The class is held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Yoga – $65 (10 weeks)
Master the basics of achieving balance in your life through the discipline of yoga. Classes are tailored for relaxation, toning and increased flexibility. The class is held from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and is open to beginners ages 16 and up.
- Drawing Made Easy – $65 (8 weeks)
Learn to draw with an award-winning artist, published illustrator and art instructor. Seasoned sketch artists are also welcome to join the class. Participants are required to purchase supplies. Open to ages 12 to adult. The class is held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
- Jewelry Making/Beading – $65 (8 weeks)
Learn beading and jewelry making techniques that include weaving and wire wrapping. Beginners need no experience and intermediate level students must have some basic knowledge of bead weaving and wire wrapping. Participants are required to purchase supplies. Open to ages 16 and up. Classes meet as follows: Intermediate, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Beginners, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
