Deadline near for AFSCME scholarships

Applications for 2008 Family Scholarships for children of AFSCME members must be postmarked by Dec. 31, 2007. AFSCME is DC 37’s national union.

Scholarships of $2,000 each, renewable for up to four years, will go to 13 winners selected from the applicants who meet the eligibility requirements.

Eligibility requirements: Applicant must be a high school senior graduating in the spring of 2008 who will enroll in a full-time, four-year degree program at an accredited college or university. Applicant must be a child of an AFSCME member (or applicant’s legal guardian or financially responsible grandparent must be a member).

For applications, mail your request to: AFSCME Family Scholarship, c/o Education Dept., 1625 L St., NW, Washington, DC 20036, or e-mail education@afscme.org or download an application from AFSCME’s Web site at www.afscme.org. Winners will be announced by March 31, 2008.
