Beginning Jan. 1, the DC 37 Health and Security Plan started to provide most seasonal employees with dental coverage as of their first day on the job.
The Plans Board of Trustees voted Dec. 7 to significantly improve benefits for the unions roughly 5,000 seasonal members. DC 37 Deputy Administrator Eliot Seide, who chairs the Trustees, announced the improvements in December.
In addition to providing dental coverage, the board decided to expand the disability benefit of seasonal employees.
For the first time, the board also decided to provide most seasonal workers with ancillary benefits, such as podiatry, optical and audiology services.
PEP will provide further information about the benefit improvements and eligibility requirements in its next issue.
