Local 1549 welcomes new members
Nearly 50 new Police Communications Technicians visited DC 37 headquarters on Nov. 28, for orientation. After DC 37 and NYC Clerical-Administrative Employees Local 1549 leaders welcomed the new workers, staffers gave them a comprehensive overview about the union and the benefits it offers. Areas covered included home purchases, political action, legal protection, collective bargaining, legal services, and community outreach.
Staffers collected membership cards after speakers described the importance of joining DC 37 at a time in which unions are under threat throughout the country. Along with services and union representation, paying dues entitles members to vote on their leadership and proposed contracts.
