PEP wins 5 Metro labor awards
The DC 37 Communications Dept. staff that produces the Public Employee Press newspaper and the union’s website, www.dc37.net, took five top prizes for stories written in 2018 at the annual Metro NY Labor Communications Council convention on May 10 in New York City.
The union website www.dc37.net took first place for general excellence. The website is produced by Associate Editor Molly Charboneau (now retired), Managing Editor Mike Lee, and Editor-in-Chief Chris Policano.
The PEP newspaper (now PEPtalk magazine) won third place in the category of General Excellence in Print.
Two PEP articles tied for third place in the News Writing category: “The Mission of Public Service: People Over Profits”, by Senior Associate Editor Gregory N. Heires, and “To Catch a Killer”, by Associate Editor Diane S. Williams. Williams also won first place for Best Online Writing for her story “Rookie of the Year Helps Find Where the Wild Thing Are”.
