Elderly anti-war activists sing out loud
for a national health care program

The Raging Grannies, a group of elderly anti-war activists, are also agitating for national health care. The troupe of singers performed on June 7 at the teach-in of Healthcare NOW, a grassroots advocacy group waging a coast-to-coast campaign for national health care.

DC 37 and 1199 SEIU are among the several unions, health advocacy and community organizations supporting Healthcare NOW.

On April 27, 18 members of the Raging Grannies were acquitted of disorderly conduct charges after they blocked the entrance to the military recruitment center in Times Square.

The New York group is part of an international network of groups of elderly women fighting to end the war in Iraq.

Later this year, DC 37 members will deliver thousands of post cards signed by members and retirees demanding universal health care to the U.S. Capitol.
