LAGIC kicks off Gay Pride Month

Kicking off Gay Pride Month June 2 at DC 37 LAGIC meeting were, New York Public Library Local 1930 Sec. Nina Manning, guest speaker Desma Holcomb of Empire State Pride Agenda, DC 37 Rep Isabel Santos, Local 1930 Treas. Carol Thomas, LAGIC Chair Jackie Beckett, DC 37 Program Director Frances M. Curtis, Local 1930 VP Valentin Colon and DC 37 President Veronica Montgomery-Costa.

Commenting on the gay marriage issue, then before New York State’s highest court, Beckett said, “To deny anyone the right to marry is to deny their humanity.” The committee honored former LAGIC leader Nat Keitt, and Montgomery-Costa praised “his sensitivity about protecting the rights of people with beliefs different from the mainstream.”
