Black History Committee sailors dressed all in white

Black History Committee’s “Reflections in White” aboard the Temptress Aug. 12.

A crowd of 250 DC 37 members and friends dressed in all-white set sail aboard the Temptress Aug. 12 for the DC 37 Black History Committee’s first annual boat ride. The boat was launched from Pier 89 and passengers enjoyed New York’s stunning skyline, Lady Liberty, and the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset.

“Reflections in White” was the theme for the voyage, which featured a live jazz trio and music by DJ Debonair and helped raise funds for future committee events.

“I am ecstatic that our first annual boat ride was so successful,” said Committee Chair Kevin Smith, president of MTA Clerical Administrative Employees Local 1655. “We prepared for an evening of elegance — and it was!”
