Drug plan to members: pay your mail-order bills

Many members and retirees have ordered and received mail-order prescriptions while neglecting to make the appropriate co-payments. This summer the DC 37 Health and Security Plan’s prescription drug administrator, Innoviant Inc., reported that approximately $500,000 is outstanding co-payments, which are due for medications dispensed through the mail-order program.

Invoices in the mail
As PEP was going to press, Innoviant planned to send out invoices to the affected members and retirees with balances due.

“We hope members and retirees will straighten out their accounts as soon as possible,” said Cynthia Chin-Marshall, acting administrator of the DC 37 Health & Security Plan.

“We don’t want to see this problem escalate to the point where it strains our contractual relationship with Innoviant,” Chin-Marshall said. “Our members have an obligation to make their co-payments and should do so as soon as possible to avoid any possible disruption in service.”

Members should include a check for the appropriate co-payment when sending a new prescription or refill by mail to Innoviant Rx. When ordering refills by phone, the Innoviant system will bill the member. Payments can be made by credit card and you can register that card for all future orders, but to do so, you must speak to a customer service representative.

DC 37 plan will help
If you receive an invoice from Innoviant Rx and have questions about it, you may contact their customer service number at 888-226-6779.
The DC 37 Health & Security Plan encourages members and retirees to utilize the program for maintenance drugs.

Purchasing your prescriptions through mail order saves you and the plan money. The plan generally receives greater discounts on prescription drug costs at mail order and you save money because you pay two co-payments instead of three for a 90-day supply of medication.
