Emergency Assistance for Pakistan

Unprecedented heavy rains in Pakistan have caused major floods which have severely affected vast areas of the country and have led to tragic loss of life. So far, more than 1500 people have lost their lives and more than 14 million people have been displaced.

In the aftermath of the floods there is a serious risk to survivors from deadly disease from contaminated drinking water. Many have had their homes and livelihoods washed away by the floods. The severe rains and flooding also damaged crops and the physical and communication infrastructure in many parts of the country.

Emergency assistance is urgently needed.

At the request of the DC Asian Heritage Committee, District Council 37 is appealing to DC 37 Locals, employees and members to make a contribution to provide relief to these suffering people facing an overwhelming national disaster.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan has established a special fund titled “Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund 2010.”

Please make your check payable to:  Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund 2010

Mail or deliver your donations to:
District Council 37
