Newsroom 2005 News Releases
District Council 37, New York City's largest public employee union, will be out in force on Election Day supporting Mayor Michael Bloomberg "We are proud to be the first
major union to have endorsed the Mayor." According to Ms. Roberts, "DC 37 members know that they will be electing their boss for the next four years. Mayor Bloomberg has listened to our ideas and has responded positively on such issues as affordable housing, day care, ending contracting out, increasing civilian workers in the uniformed services, and providing additional funding and development to our public hospitals. "DC 37's powerful political action organization has launched a massive Get Out the Vote campaign. We have sent out over 200,000 pieces of mail, made over 200,000 phone calls from our phone banks, and helped register eligible voters. We will be out with a full-force field operation all over the city on Election Day in support of the Mayor and our other endorsed candidates." "We are proud to be the first major union to have endorsed
the Mayor. We will work to re-elect him because he is the right man for
the job."
