DC 37 Executive Director Lillian Roberts receives mayoral proclamation declaring Thursday, February 1 "Lillian Roberts Day" for her lifelong work for labor

City Council also presents Ms. Roberts with a proclamation for her tireless work for the labor movement.

District Council 37 Executive Director Lillian Roberts was honored with a mayoral proclamation declaring Thursday, February 1, 2007 as "Lillian Roberts Day" and praising her life's work in the labor movement. A City Council proclamation from Council Speaker Christine Quinn praised her "outstanding contributions to the labor movement". The proclamations coincided with the opening ceremonies of the 26th year of DC 37's Black History Month program.

Ms. Roberts expressed surprise when presented with the proclamations. "I never expected to be presented with these proclamations for my work in the labor movement," said Ms. Roberts. "I am honored to receive them, and accept them on behalf of the tens of thousands of members of this great union who have allowed me the privileged of serving them. The members are what keep me going. Their needs are what motivate me to keep up the fight."

Ms. Roberts was overwhelmingly re-elected to a third term as DC 37 Executive Director on January 23rd.
