Puerto Rican Heritage Week

DC 37 will celebrate Puerto Rican Heritage Week from Nov. 16 through Nov. 20.

Following the opening ceremony in the first floor gallery on Monday, Nov. 16, the Latino Heritage Committee will present a roundtable discussion on the current state of progressive politics among Puerto Ricans and Latinos. Marking the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Young Lords in 1969, the panelists will assess the movement’s gains and losses since the struggles of the 1960s.

In the lobby gallery, the committee will present an exhibit of Taino art.

The week’s finale, in Room 1 beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20, will feature dinner, dancing and cultural entertainment, including traditional dance performances.
