Civil service exams you can take - updated list

ATTENTION

Fact Sheet:
Civil Service Examinations

The Department of Citywide Administrative Services aims to give more civil service tests in the coming year. The move is motivated by a Court of Appeals decision that stressed the nine-month limit on provisionals (the city currently has about 30,000) and by a new law, which calls for systematic replacement of provisionals by permanent employees.

Listed below are civil service examinations scheduled through June 2008 for titles represented by DC 37 locals and titles for which DC 37 members are eligible. The list is tentative and subject to change. For up-to-date information, please consult the official monthly schedule available at www.nyc.gov/dcas.

In the list, C means open competitive and P means promotional.

To get an application, write the DCAS Applications Section, Municipal Building, 1 Centre St., 14th floor, New York, NY 10007, c/o Exam #, Exam Title, or go in person between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 18 Washington St. Mailed requests must include a stamped, self-addressed, business-size envelope.
