FREE help filing taxes

Last year DC 37 helped about 3,000 members get $8.2 million in refunds FREE. If you (and your spouse*) earn less than the income ceilings below, you may qualify for this free tax filing assistance.

When the W-2s arrive in January, see the box at right for more information on finding a FREE tax preparation center near your work or home or call 311 for information in English or Spanish.

Income ceilings: With no children, if you (and your spouse*) earn less than $20,000 total in 2006. With children, if you (and spouse*) earn less than $40,000 total in 2006. * Spouse’s income must be included if you are filing jointly.
