2009 Union-endorsed candidates for City Council
in Feb. 24 special elections
The
above candidates for vacant positions on the City Council were recommended by
the DC 37 Political Screening Committee, approved Jan. 14 by the Executive Board
and endorsed Jan. 27 by an overwhelming vote of the Delegates Council. The union
believes they are strong supporters of the needs of working people and families.
Members in their City Council districts are urged to vote for them and to use
the coupon at left to volunteer to help them win. Polling places will be open
from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The candidates are running to replace three former
Council members, all Democrats, who have moved on to higher office. In November,
Joseph P. Addabbo Jr. and Hiram Monserrate of Queens were elected to the state
Senate, and Staten Islander Michael E. McMahon was elected to U.S. Congress. | |
