Political Action Department

Assistant Director Susan Chin of the DC 37 Political Action and Legislation Dept. is listed among “The 30 Most Beautiful People in New York City Politics” by City Hall, a bimonthly newspaper that is popular among political cognoscenti.

“It will take more than a recession, a multi-billion-dollar budget crisis and the threat of massive municipal job losses to bring Susan Chin down,” says the publication, describing the “optimistic smile” and positive spirit Chin depends on for the strength she needs to fight for the needs of DC 37 members in the tough world of politics.

The article tells of the challenging breadth of legislative priorities she brings to City Council legislators on behalf of the union’s diverse membership, which ranges from “Accountants to zoo workers” in 56 locals.

While her photo on the cover and inside the tabloid newspaper shows that good looks are an important factor in choosing the “30 most beautiful,” a look at the list shows that political accomplishment and deep concern for the people of New York City are also major criteria. Included are Congress members Yvette Clarke and Anthony Weiner; Assembly members Michael Gianaris, Janele Hyer-Spencer, Hakeem Jeffries and Michele Titus; City Council members Miguel Martinez, Diana Reyna and Matthew Titone; City Planning Commission Chair Amanda Burden, and top staffers for a number of area political leaders.
