A bill to establish temperature standards for the school kitchens where thousands of Local 372 members work has been filed in both houses of the State Legislature. The union-backed bill is sponsored by Sen. Olga Mendez and Assembly Labor Chair Susan John.

“The health and safety of our members and of the school children who eat the food we prepare are top concerns of Local 372 and DC 37,” said Veronica Montgomery-Costa, president of Local 372 and DC 37.

The union is pressing hard to get the bill passed and signed by the governor this year, said Political Action Director Wanda Williams.
