District Council 37 Women’s Committee
holds two bake sales to raise funds

The DC 37 Women’s Committee recently added a little sweetness to the lives of members and staff passing through the lobby of the union’s headquarters. On March 27 and April 24, members of the committee and supporters held bake sales and sold delicious confections, including cookies and pound, chocolate and coconut cakes.

“Our committee has really taken shape,” said Committee Chair Walthene Primus, president of Local 957. “At least 40 members attend our monthly meetings, and all our events, like the recent Spring Fling on April 18, have been very successful.”

The committee’s upcoming plans include programs that focus on health and wellness, and a women’s conference in 2009. “We’re starting to plan early so that our next conference will be even bigger and better than our last one,” Primus said.
