Local 420 trains chapter leaders

With the goal of educating their recently elected and re-elected chapter leaders (shown right taking the oath of office) and increasing the level of membership participation, Municipal Hospital Employees Local 420 held an orientation session June 28 at DC 37 for the new shop stewards, chapter chairs and vice chairs. The Saturday session ran from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and featured workshops that reviewed the grievance procedure, the union’s history and the collective bargaining agreement with management. “With our recently completed election, we felt it was very important to provide our leadership group with this orientation session to help them better serve the members,” said Local 420 2nd Vice President Togba Porte.
