He served on the Local 1597 board for 12 years, eventually being elected vice president. In 2006 members elected Latson president of the local until 2018.
“Our main concern is to retain jobs and benefits for our members,” Latson said. “Unions are under attack but we are successfully fighting the conservative right’s attempts to destroy us workers who are part of organized labor.”
“We are protecting the jobs, wages, benefits, and pensions of DC 37 members– that is the bottom line and what members expect of us,” said Latson.
