The District Council 37 AFSCME Annuity Fund Plan is a defined contribution employees’ pension plan. It is funded by employer contributions made pursuant to collective bargaining agreements between District Council 37 and agencies and subdivisions of the City of New York and other government entities. DC 37 adopted the Plan on Oct. 1, 1999.
The Plan and the Annuity Fund are intended to satisfy the tax qualification requirements under sections 401(a) and 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code as a governmental retirement plan. The Plan Year is July 1 to June 30. Your benefit under the Plan is based on employer contributions allocated to your account, plus earnings and losses thereon, and your allocable share of expenses. You are at all times vested in your benefit under the Plan.
Your benefit is available for distribution from the Annuity Fund upon your termination of employment with an Employer who contributes, has contributed, or is required to contribute to the Annuity Fund for any reason, including retirement or death.

Pension Counseling
The DC 37 Health & Security Pension Unit assists members with questions and inquiries pertaining to the various pension tiers and pension options under NYCERS.
The Unit provides pension counseling services where members may receive an estimate of their pension retirement allowance and an explanation of the different pension options with a pension counselor. It is advisable to schedule an appointment within one year of your planned retirement date.

Retirees Association
Join the DC 37 Retirees Association
Continue your union activism after retirement! The DC 37 Retirees Association is open to all retired members who worked in the jurisdiction of DC 37 at any point during their careers or who draw benefits from DC 37 Funds, and their spouses or domestic partners.
Founded in 1968, the Association participates in legislative, political, and social campaigns to defend and improve health insurance, social security, pension benefits, and Medicare. It also funds recreational and learning activities for all eligible retirees.
Education Programs
The DC 37 Education Fund, in collaboration with the DC 37 Retirees Association, offers rich educational, recreational, and social opportunities to active members of the Retirees Association.
