District Council 37, New York’s largest municipal employee union, endorses NYC Public Advocate James for State Attorney General and State Comptroller DiNapoli for re-election

New York, N.Y. – District Council 37, the city’s largest municipal employee union, has endorsed NYC Public Advocate Letitia James for State Attorney General and NYS Comptroller Tom DiNapoli for re-election, the union announced today.

The candidates were overwhelmingly endorsed by DC 37 delegates, who comprise the union’s highest governing body, at their most recent monthly meeting.

“We enthusiastically support Tom DiNapoli and Letitia James because they have consistently addressed the issues that are of utmost importance to our members and the working men and women of our state,” said DC 37 Executive Director Henry Garrido. “Time and again, Comptroller DiNapoli and Public Advocate James have demonstrated their commitment to public service, workers’ rights and improving the quality of life for all New Yorkers. With these endorsements, we stand ready to engage and mobilize membership on their behalf.”

“DC 37 is a powerful voice for working families, and I am proud to have their support. From serving our municipal government, to keeping our hospitals and schools running, DC 37 members are a crucial part of New York. As Attorney General, I will continue to stand up for the rights of working people in every corner of our state,” said Public Advocate Letitia James.

State Comptroller DiNapoli said, “Every day, the hardworking women and men of DC37 provide vital services that keep New York City functioning and its families safe. They do the often unrecognized work that lets New York City grow, and I am honored to have their support. As workers’ rights, wages and benefits are under attack as never before, I will always stand by my friends in labor to fight for what’s right.”
