Statement from Executive Director Henry Garrido on primary election results

NEW YORK— “Our members knocked on thousands of doors, made tens of thousands of phone calls, and hit the pavement during a historic heatwave to turn out majorities for DC 37-endorsed candidates up and down the primary ballot. The results are clear: labor wins.

Zohran Mamdani’s win is a victory for all working class New Yorkers and we’re proud that DC 37 was one of the first unions to support his candidacy. His hard-fought campaign engaged a new generation of voters who are confronting a reality we know too well: the crisis of affordability and accessibility in the city we call home.

Our work is not done, and we look forward to continuing the momentum for pro-labor candidates at the polls in November.”
