We were notified that Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center will no longer be covered by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield beginning January 1, 2025. Negotiations between the two entities have broken down, and they have not reached an agreement to provide continuity of care beyond 2024.

What this means for our members:

• In-Network Access Through December 31, 2024: MSK hospitals will remain in-network for all Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield members through the end of this year.
• Continuity of Care: Patients currently in active treatment at MSK will qualify for 90 days of extended in-network coverage beyond December 31, 2024 (until March 31, 2025). Affected members can reach out to Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield for more details.
• EmblemHealth: Outpatient medical services rendered through your EmblemHealth insurance will be continued. Please contact the DC 37 H&S Inquiry Unit at (212) 815-1234 if you have questions about your coverage.

This issue highlights the longstanding challenges associated with the healthcare system for City workers. The health and well-being of our members should not be used as bargaining chips in negotiations between healthcare providers and insurance companies.
