Remembering our fallen heroes

DC 37 leaders and staff gathered in front of union headquarters to remember the four union members who gave their lives in the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. The annual memorial offers a time for reflection and to honor the sacrifice of Rev. Mychal F. Judge, FDNY Chaplain, Local 299; Carlos Lillo, Paramedic, Local 2057; OTB Betting Clerk Chet Louie, Local 2021; and Lt. Ricardo Quinn, Paramedic, Local 3621.

During his remarks, DC 37 Executive Director Henry Garrido reminded the crowd that many more hardworking union members and others continue to suffer from the effects of the attacks. “I remember this day by fighting for those who are still here, and for those who lost loved ones,” Garrido said. “I also remember by pushing for legislation for those who remain sick, and that they receive proper medical care.”
