Retired Ted Finkelstein received a proclamation from the mayor.

Local 154 member is honored

Ted Finkelstein’s 36 years of advocating for New Yorkers with disabilities has come to an end.

His retirement from the New York City Commission on Human Rights was celebrated with a proclamation by Mayor Bill de Blasio who declared June 30, “Ted Finkelstein Day.”

“From negotiating with landlords and housing providers, to small businesses and employers across our city, Ted has worked hard to ensure individuals with disabilities have equal access to essential facilities and amenities and helped ensure they can live free from discrimination,” said the mayor in the proclamation.

Finkelstein, a member of Local 154, was an Associate Human Rights Specialist 2.

“Without a doubt, Ted deserves that proclamation and more,” said Local 154 President Juan Fernandez.
