Local 2906 shows off new boat
DC 37 Executive Director Henry Garrido was given a tour of the new M/V Rockaway sludge boat by members of Local 2906. The Dept. of Environmental Protection sludge boat delivers tons of waste from sewage treatment plants to locations in the Bronx, Brooklyn and New Jersey. The new vessel is larger than previous sludge boats and carries sophisticated state-of-the-art technology as it navigates the city’s waterways, including the New York City DEP facility in Newtown Creek, Brooklyn. Garrido was joined on the tour by union staffers David Paskin and Mickey Green.
