DC 37 Education Fund Classes

CCNA CISCO/CompTIA+ Certification Training Program

DC 37’s Education Fund, in partnership with CUNY’s Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), will be offering CISCO certification as well as CompTIA+ certification courses to eligible DC 37 members. The majority of this program will be offered virtually, however, some sessions will be required at BMCC’s learning lab located at 25 Broadway in lower Manhattan.

Computer Security Training Track
Training components: Network+, Linux+ and Security+
Certifications: CompTIA Network+, Linux+ and Security+
Contact Hours: 378 total hours
Pre-Requisites: A+ certification

Requirements for the program include:

  • Letter of Recommendation – must be submitted along with your confirmation for the program
  • Interview Process
  • Technical assessment
  • Completion of BMCC application including essay
  • Review of college transcripts (as well as a HS Diploma or GED)
  • Must have a PC or laptop with Windows 7 or higher and stable internet connection (no phones or tablets)
  • Must have a webcam and microphone (camera must be on during all class sessions)

More information on letter of recommendation
The letter of recommendation must come from a supervisor, co-worker or anyone who can speak to your personal and professional qualities, skills and achievements and how they relate to this program. More specifically, this letter should indicate why you would be a good fit for an upskilling IT program, what connection the person recommending you has to you (how they know you and how long they have known you), how this opportunity will support your career aspirations and finally how the applicant plans to contribute to NYC’s increased tech demands. This letter should have contact information (phone number and email address) for the person writing the recommendation letter for you. This letter must be emailed as an attachment to edf-testpreps@dc37.net to have your full application considered for this program. Late recommendation letters will not be considered.
