Garrido cited for 9/11 work
DC 37 Executive Director Henry Garrido was among 16 individuals and organizations honored with the Bronze Medallion, the city’s highest civic honor, for their work advocating for passage of the permanent authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Act. Also known as the Zadroga Act, the legislation guarantees New York survivors and first responders to the 9/11 attacks in 2001 receive needed care and access to resources. The legislation is funded until 2090, virtually covering survivors for the rest of their lives. Garrido accepted the award Dec. 16 on behalf of the Municipal Labor Committee, as the group’s co-chair.
