Education Fund welcomes author Nancy MacLean

The award-winning author and Duke University professor Nancy MacLean spoke to union activists about her latest book Democracy in Chains: The Deep History of the Radical Right’s Stealth Plan for America.

MacLean was invited by the DC 37 Education Fund.

“This is an opportunity to learn more about the changing nature of our nation’s political economy and the impact it has on working families and unions,” said Diallo Shabazz, director of the DC 37 Education Fund at the talk and book signing.

In her new book MacLean talks about the relentless campaign being waged by conservative forces to eliminate unions, privatize public education and suppress the right to vote.

MacLean is currently on a book tour across the country. “I’ve had the opportunity to speak to a lot of union members at meetings like these. It’s great to be here with you,” said MacLean at the Feb. 8 event.
