Elmhurst Hospital heroes honored

State Sen. José Peralta honored two hospital workers in DC 37 locals 420 and 1549 for outstanding bravery at a ceremony at Elmhurst Hospital April 24.

Fabio Martich of Local 1549 (pictured) and Trevor Flinch of Local 420 were given citations by the Albany lawmaker, who represents the Elmhurst, Queens district.

The two union members selflessly foiled a murder attempt at Elmhurst Hospital’s Emergency Room when a 260-pound prisoner bungled his escape and took a visitor hostage. In a ceremony in November, the Elmhurst Hospital Police Commander recognized Flinch and Martich “for selfless courage beyond the call of duty.”
