Members bond over baseball

Local 3005 hit a home run at a baseball event organized by its newly formed Social Committee when more than 50 union members came together to cheer on the New York Mets at Citi Field in July. President Jeff Oshins and Vice President Samantha Rappa-Giovagnoli applauded the 20-member committee’s initiative that brought members employed at the Office of Chief Medical Examiner and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to the nighttime sporting event. “This was a great opportunity,” Oshins said. “The baseball outing gave members a chance to bond as a union outside the confines of the office. We got to know each other better in an informal and relaxed setting. Between hits and runs, members from the two agencies chatted up one another to discuss work issues while they enjoyed a favorite pastime. It was a real team-building experience.”
