New Suicide Prevention Helpline

The new 988 is a shortened helpline to reach the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. The new code works like 911 and is a critical step in transforming the crisis care system. The 988 helpline is meant for people experiencing mental health crises, up to and including suicidal thoughts, and those worried about loved ones who need crisis support. The previous lifeline number (1.800.273.8255) is being routed to the new 988.
