Union college grad credits DC 37
Local 1070 member Wanda Boone credits her family and the union for help in completing bachelor’s degree requirements at John Jay College in October. She graduates next May.
“My union was amazing and supportive with tuition reimbursement that helped pay for some of my courses,” Boone said.
“My local president, Fausto Sabatino, offered advice and moral support especially since I work full time and attended classes year-round for the 40 credits I needed,” said Boone, a Sr. Court Office Assistant in Manhattan Criminal Court. Boone also cared for her terminally ill sister, who died in October.
“She always said how proud she is of me. I am the first in my family to get a bachelor’s degree,” Boone said. “Having my degree boosts my confidence.”
